Some good news: 5 of my ah yi’s hen’s eggs have hatched into small cute chicks!
Bad news: We suspect the rooster killed four of them…💔

So today, we will be discovering more about chickens and find out the possible reason of why the rooster may have killed his own chicks🔍…

1. Basic facts on chickens!

Chickens are a species of birds which can fly, but not very high. They often use this defence of pecking to attack what they think could danger them, often their predators. A common chicken breed is the Jungle Fowl, which coincidentally is the breed of the mother hen! However, as seen in this picture, the rooster is slightly different… to me it looks like a mix breed of jungle fowl and that furry chicken, but who knows?

2. Chicken defences!

There are two types, first defence and second defence. First defence is normally used at all times and second defence is when chickens sense danger. Today, we will talk more on second defence to find out more on why the chicken killed its own young.
